Fernando Costa Mattos é Professor de Filosofia Moderna na Universidade Federal do ABC e pesquisador do CEBRAP. Doutor em Filosofia pela Universidade de São Paulo (2007), fez também mestrado em Filosofia (2001) e graduação em Direito (1997) nessa mesma universidade. De 2007 a 2010, realizou pesquisa de pós-doutorado, com bolsa da Fapesp, junto ao Núcleo "Direito e Democracia" do Cebrap, tendo feito dois estágios na Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
Membro do Grupo de Filosofia Alemã, da USP, e da comissão editorial dos Cadernos de Filosofia Alemã, é também sócio-fundador e atual presidente da Seção Regional "Gérard Lebrun" da Sociedade Kant Brasileira, na qual é vice-diretor de publicações, e vem trabalhando na tradução de textos kantianos. Atualmente, está realizando uma nova tradução da Crítica da Razão Pura para a Editora Vozes.

Fernando Costa Mattos is Associate Professor of Modern and Contemporary Philosophy at the Federal University of ABC, where he has been, since February 2018, the Director of Editora UFABC (EdUFABC), having been Provost for Community Affairs and Affirmative Policies (2016-18) and the first Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Philosophy at UFABC (2015-16). PhD in Philosophy from the University of São Paulo (2007), he also did a master's degree in Philosophy (2001) and a law degree (1997) at that same university. He is a researcher at CEBRAP, where he carried out, in the Law and Democracy Nucleus (NDD), a post-doctoral research with a scholarship from FAPESP (2007-2010), having done three internships at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. He has been a member of the editorial board of "Cadernos de Filosofia Alemã", a biannual journal from USP, since 2003. He published the books "Nietzsche, perspectivism and democracy: a free spirit at war against dogmatism" (Saraiva, 2013) and "From theory to freedom: the question of objectivity in Kant "(AM Ed., 2009), as well as several articles on Kant, Nietzsche and Heidegger. In addition, he translated from German to Portuguese the "Critique of Pure Reason" (Vozes, 2012) and the "Critique of the Faculty of Judging" (Vozes, 2016), by Kant, in addition to other books (Habermas, Freud, Jhering) and philosophical articles. At UFABC, he teaches disciplines in the areas of Modern Philosophy, Contemporary Philosophy, Ethics and Political Philosophy, and has been developing research on Martin Heidegger. In 2020, in the context of the new coronavirus pandemic, he created the "Philosophical Happy Hour of Costa Mattos", a weekly virtual meeting with debates on philosophical themes presented by different teachers and intellectuals in the area.
