Possui graduação em Ciências Estatísticas pela Escola Nacional de Ciências Estatísticas (1988), Licenciatura em Matemática pela Universidade Católica de Brasília (2005), Mestrado em Pesquisa Operacional pelo Instituto Militar de Engenharia (1991), Doutorado em Educação (Didática, Práticas Escolares e Técnicas de Ensino) pela Universidade de São Paulo (2003) e Pós-Doutorado em Educação pela Universidade de São Paulo (2009).
Atualmente é professor do curso de Licenciatura em Matemática do Centro de Matemática, Computação e Cognição da UFABC; do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação e do Programa de Pós-Graduação Strict Sensu em Educação da Universidade Federal do Triângulo Mineiro; coordenador do sub-projeto Matemática Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Iniciação à Docência - PIBID, coordenador do projeto aprovado no edital Universal da FAPEMIG: A Utilização Da Metodologia De Resolução de Problemas no Ensino de Estatística, Probabilidade e Análise Combinatória na Educação Básica. Coordenador do Grupo de Estudos em Educação Estatística e Matemática - GEEM, certificado junto ao CNPq.

Graduated in Statistical Sciences from the National School of Statistical Sciences (1988), Degree in Mathematics from the Catholic University of Brasília (2005), Masters in Operational Research from the Military Institute of Engineering (1991), Doctorate in Education (Didactics, School Practices and Techniques of Teaching) from the University of São Paulo (2003) and Post-Doctorate in Education from the University of São Paulo (2009). He is currently Associate Professor III of the Licentiate Degree in Mathematics at the Center for Mathematics, Computing and Cognition and the Graduate Program (Masters and Doctorate) in Teaching and History of Science and Mathematics at the Federal University of ABC - UFABC (line of research: Teaching and Learning). He is coordinator of the Study Group on Statistical and Mathematics Education - GEEM, certified by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) having as a priority the discussion and study of issues related to Statistical Education from the early years of Elementary School to the University education. He is the coordinator of the following research projects: The use of problem solving methodology in teaching Statistics, Probability and Combinatorial Analysis; The teaching of mathematical content in basic education through Stimulus Equivalence; and Assessment of attitudes towards the teaching of Statistics and Probability of students and teachers. The lines of research are related to: conceptions and attitudes of teachers and students in relation to the teaching of Probability and Statistics; Problem solving, pedagogical games, stimulus equivalence, digital technologies, textbooks, textbook analysis and historical approaches contributing to the teaching of Probability, Statistics and Combinatorics. He is a member of the scientific committee of the Statistical Education Working Group (GT-12) of the Brazilian Society of Mathematics Education ? SBEM. Guides research at Master's and Doctoral level associated with Statistical Education. He has published his research in scientific journals and events nationally and internationally, in books and book chapters. He currently has a research partnership with researchers from Chile, Colombia, Spain and Portugal, contributing to research in Statistical Education in Brazil and worldwide. He is a member of the Latin American Network for Research in Statistical Education ? RELIEE and the Brazilian Society of Mathematics Education-SBEM. He has contributed to teacher training (initial and continuing) aimed at teaching Statistics and Probability in Brazil and Latin America, for example, Costa Rica, Colombia and Venezuela. He contributes with opinions in national and international scientific journals and events. He is currently coordinator of the Mathematics area (Licentiate in Mathematics) for the Pedagogical Residency at the Federal University of ABC ? UFABC.
