Possui graduação em Engenharia de Materiais pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (2000), Mestrado em Ciência e Engenharia dos Materiais pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (2002) e Doutorado sanduíche em Ciência e Engenharia dos Materiais pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos e Universidade da California-Davis (2006).
Tem experiência na área de Engenharia de Materiais e Metalúrgica, com ênfase em Materiais cerâmicos , atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Processamento e caracterização de nanocompósitos cerâmicos de alumina-SiC, Alumina- ZrO2, Alumina- NbC e Alumina- TiC e obtenção de pós nanométrico pelo método de Moagem reativa.

Vânia Trombini Hernandes holds a bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos (2000), a Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos (2002) and a sandwich doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos and the University of California-Davis (2006). He has experience in the area of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, with emphasis on Ceramic Materials, working mainly on the following topics: Processing and characterization of ceramic nanocomposites of alumina-SiC, Alumina- ZrO2, Alumina- NbC and Alumina- TiC, Alumina - MAX and MXenese phases, in obtaining nanometric powders by the reactive grinding method and in the formulation of traditional ceramic masses using biomass waste. She served as deputy coordinator of the Graduate course in Materials Science and Engineering at the same institution between 2016 and 2017, as coordinator of the interdisciplinary Bachelor's Degrees in 2018. From 2018 to 2020 she served as deputy dean of undergraduate studies and, between 2021 and 2023, she participated in the coordination of the graduate course in materials science and engineering at UFABC. Since 2019, she has been collaborating with projects in the area of undergraduate teaching improvements, in the area of materials science and ceramic materials, and in extension projects aimed at the inclusion and permanence of girls in exact sciences and engineering (STEM) courses.
